How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise required utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the right choice for carrying jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries will have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be parked next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, units that are older would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
