For the utilization of lift trucks, there are a few health and safety guidelines governing their use. Forklifts are huge industrial equipment which can be dangerous and have to be handled with safety in mind. The regulations and rules state that the driver must conduct daily inspections on the forklift and more thorough inspections each and every week and on a monthly basis. The following inspections should be done on the forklift:

Forklift Brakes - brakes on forklifts are important features which must be double and triple checked. A brake inspection is done with various pressures and pedal heights to determine the sensitivity of the brakes. The brake lights should be inspected at the same time.

The Tires - forklift tires are also key for the safe functioning of the lift truck and to the braking system. All the tires need to be inspected correctly to ensure that there are no punctures in the tires and they are inflated to the proper pressure.

Controller - the forklift controller system is checked by operating the forks and the release to determine that the system is in good working order. Any hint of issues should immediately reported and tended to. The forklift must not be used until the controller system has been repaired.

Steering Wheel - To make certain that the turning of the wheel is correct, the driver must inspect the forklift steering wheel. Forklift safety depends on the steering wheel working correctly and responding well. There are a variety of inspections that could be performed to determine the performance of the steering wheel.

Engine Oil - the Removing the oil dip stick from the engine with help determine if the engine needs oil. The dipstick will show both the oil level and the colour of the oil. The oil must be refilled if the level is too low. If the colour is off, there might be contamination occurring.

Fire Extinguisher - all forklift trucks are required to be outfitted with a fire extinguisher. The extinguisher has to be tested to ensure it would work properly in case of a fire. Different kinds of fire extinguisher must be inspected in certain ways. Like for example, a dry chemical extinguisher must be shaken.
