A kind of equipment in the material handling industry that can be used to lift and transport loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Each and every part of a forklift has a particular function. Different components could be used to move the load either horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The components used to lower and lift the load is called the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts for lifting loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is positioned within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all situated inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift parts is the truck frame. This includes the counterweights located at the back that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
