Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
More than 200 deaths every year in North America are a result of forklifts, or lift trucks. Proper inspection and maintenance of forklift tires could truly help to lessen the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Inspection
Prior to the beginning of each shift, the tires on the lift truck should be inspected for signs of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires needs to be checked to make sure that the pressure is not too low. Low tire pressure can make the equipment prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The selection of tire type must be based on the type of surface wherein the lift truck will be utilized. For indoor use, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For smoother surfaces, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires can grip well on surfaces which are rough since they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
Based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks require some continual daily and some periodic checks that is carried out each shift. The tires must be inspected again for any indication of damage, like cuts or wear.

Forklift Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employee or employer utilizing a lift truck since lift truck mishaps could be serious causing personal injuries and even death. Even minor accidents can cost you and your company money if the merchandise or the forklift are damaged in a mishap. Be sure you are well informed regarding problems involved in lift truck safety.
